History of the Diocese of Udupi
  
His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has erected the new Diocese of Udupi-taken from the territory of the diocese of Mangalore making it a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Bangalore.

The new Diocese of Udupi extends to a total area of 3500.75 sq. kms.; has a Catholic population of 106149 out of a total population of 1445240; has 46 Parishes 58 Diocesan Priests 28 Religious Priests and 225 Women Religious. -


The diocese of Udupi includes the three civil districts of Udupi Kunapura and Karkala and is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Bangalore. The parish church of Our Lady of Miracles is the Church- Cathedral of Udupi diocese.
